The reunification of Germany was accomplished on October 3, 1990. Since then, the 3rd of October
is a public holiday in Germany, and each year one of the Federal States hostes alternately the official
festivities of the German government. The Free State of Thueringen hosted in 2004 the festivities
in the parliament of Erfurt. The two-sided bookmark was presented as a gift to leading politicians and
high-ranking representatives of the German State.
