The bookmark commemorates the French kingdom that was established
in 1099 in the Holy Land during the First Crusade. At a first glance we see
a sword superimposed on a shield. A closer look reveals that the shield is
also a map of the Holy Land, marking the main Crusader cities of the time.
The blade of the sword with five very gentle flowing curves depicts the
Jordan river and functions as a clip on the bookmarked page.
