Lilian Medland
(1880
- 1955), born in
London, trained and worked for many years
as a nurse in England. She made the illustrations to The Birds of the British Isles
published between 1906 and 1911. Later in Australia, she produced 53
plates with
watercolours depicting 883 Australian birds during the 1930s. She also worked for
the
Australian Museum in Sydney, painting 30 species of birds which were
issued
as postcards and as covers on the Australian museum magazine.
