The jacquard loom is a mechanical weaving loom, invented by Joseph Marie
Jacquard in 1801, which utilized holes punched in cards describing the weaving
pattern and controlling the operations of the loom. Although the loom did not
accomplish any computing at that time and the modern looms are fully computer
controlled nowadays, the Jacquard loom is considered to mark an important step
in the history of computing hardware.

Papilionaceous Ltd. was established in 1996 and is dedicated to Jacquard silk
weaving. All their products are designed and woven on site in Dartmouth.
