THE WEDDING OF THE MOUSE
a story in six
pictures | illustrations by the Japanese illustrator Gustav Klim |
unpublished bookmarks
Gustav Klim gave himself a pseudonym which sounds almost the same as the
name of the famous
Art Nouveau artist Gustav Klimt - in reverence for his great art.
Who is the best
bridegroom for the daughter of the mouse? The sun?

The story is based
on an old Japanese (maybe also Chinese) tale and goes as follows:
1. The daughter
said "Sun. You are the greatest one in the world. Will you marry
me?"
2. The sun said "The cloud is greater than me. He is the best for
you."
3. The cloud said "The wind is greater than me. He is the best for
you."
4. The wind said "The wall is greater than me. He is the best for
you."
5. The wall said "The mouse is greater than me. He is the best for
you."
6. The daughter of the mouse married the young man of the mouse which
lived in the neighborhood.
