JUNICHI NAKAHARA

The renowned Japanese illustrator and print maker Junichi Nakahara (1913-1988)
is considered to be a major forerunner of the manga art. In the 1920s and 1930s his
illustrations of young girls with big eyes were famous and he had a dominant influence
during that generation.

KOKESHI BOOKMARK by ANNELORE PAROT

Kokeshi are traditional Japanese dolls originally made of wood and dating as far back as to
the Edo period. Nowadays, there are many variations and Kokeshi dolls are popular as toys,
gifts and tokens of friendship. The French illustrator Annelore Parot created a series of
lovely Kokeshi doll images which are used to illustrate several children's books and stationery.

The advertising bookmark for the Spanish publishing house Edelvives shows the doll Aoki.

THE CHRYSLER BUILDING, NYC

Mirage Bookmark is preparing several new bookmarks to be produced in 2011.
Among them is the fifth bookmark Mirage Bookmark dedicates to Art Deco.
The bookmark shows The Chrysler Building in NYC, a jewel of the Art Deco
architecture. The skyscaraper is a work of William Van Allen and it was completed
in 1930 as the tallest building of the world of that time. The building is depicted
with two different grey tones on the brushed stainless steel surface and the
windows are cut-out holes in the material.

VIENNA 1900 - KLIMT, SCHIELE AND THEIR TIMES

The premier art museum in Switzerland, Fondation Beyeler in Riehen, started a large and comprehensive exhibition on the revolutionary art movement of Modernism in Vienna on 26th September. Not only paintings and drawings by Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele, but also textile designs, glass and silver objects and furniture by the artisans of the Viennese Secession like Koloman Moser can be seen to give an impression of the interdisciplinary form of art of the day.

Mirage Bookmark contributes some distinguished bookmarks to the shops of the museum, among them the most popular bookmark The Kiss by Gustav Klimt in brushed steel and in 23.7 carat gold plated versions. A delectable acceptance enjoys also our bookmark Vorfrühling by Koloman Moser which is executed as a design object of embossed and die-cut heavy cardboard.

OP ART

Mirage Bookmark is preparing the production of a steel bookmark with a motif of op art.
Op art is an abbreviation for optical art which uses optical illusions to create new
concepts of perception. The bookmark will be available at the beginning of 2011.

Art Nouveau bookmarks from Mirage Bookmark

Art Nouveau bookmarks produced by Mirage Bookmark. The bookmarks are
made of brushed stainless steel with a satin surface and are illustrated with cut-
out and engraved motifs of the Art Nouveau era.

Our picture shows a test print of the coming bookmark Kirsten Flagstad in our
card bookmark series Beauties of the Art History.

Kirsten Flagstad was a Norwegian opera singer, one of the greatest Wagnerian
sopranos of the 20th century. A restrained and expressive stage performer, she
was admired internationally for her voice's sheer tonal beauty, power, stamina,
security and consistency of line and tone. In Norway Flagstad is revered as a
national hero and her pictures have even made on banknotes and stamps. The
town of Hamar, being the birthplace of Flagstad dedicated her a museum..

Mirage Bookmark created these folding gift cards to which the bookmarks are
attached as can be seen in the picture below. On one side, the gift card is a
good protection for the bookmarks when they are shipped throughout the
world. On the other side, the bookmarks are made ready as a gift with the
attractive gift card if you wish to hand out them to your friends or family.

Our steel bookmark Iris Field is mounted on an elegant printed black card and
is wrapped in cello before it is fixed to the gift card. The bookmark can be
easily removed from the gift card by the receiver.
